Fernandina Beach Man Claims $10 Million Lotto Jackpot

NR 04-29-03 ... On Monday, Apr 28, a man from Fernandina Beach claimed the $10 million Lotto jackpot from the Apr 23 drawing at Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee. George B. Morris (67) chose to collect his award in form of a lump-sum payment of $5,629,561 instead of receiving 30 annual installments of approximately $333,333 each.

George bought his lucky Quick Pick ticket at the Smile Gas station, located at 3299 E. State Road # 200 in Yulee. The store will receive a $10,000 retailer bonus for selling the jackpot winning ticket.

George is the 7^th Florida Lotto winner with a ticket from Nassau County, the 4^th winner with a ticket from the city of Yulee, and the 757^th overall winner since the game began in 1988.

Total ticket sales for this jackpot generated approximately $6.7 million for public education in Florida.

Doris Slenski chose to collect her award in form of a lump-sum payment of $12,359,000 instead of receiving 30 annual installments of approximately $700,000 each. She was accompanied by her brother and son.

Doris bought her lucky Quick Pick ticket at Publix Supermarket, located at 350 US 27 North in Lake Placid. The Publix Corporation will receive a $10,000 retailer bonus for selling the jackpot winning ticket.

Doris is the 2^nd Florida Lotto winner with a ticket from Highlands County, the first winner with a ticket from the city of Lake Placid, and the 755^th overall winner since the game began in 1988.

Total ticket sales for this jackpot generated approximately $14.7 million for public education in Florida.
